Our wedding was fantastic! I was not stressed at all on the day-of, but I am glad we did an evening ceremony. I probably would have been freaking out if I had to get ready any earlier/quicker than I did. I was surprisingly calm considering my usual personality and the fact that I agonized over every little detail leading up to the day. At about the 2-week away mark I just said screw it, if it's not done it's not getting done and if it's not ordered we won't have it so oh well.
We pretty much moseyed through the day. My husband (ooh that feels good to say) was so cute that morning. He told me he was so happy because he was afraid he wouldn't get to see me at all prior to the ceremony. We had a quite little breakfast together then ran some errands around the town. The girls and I went to the salon for our hair then came back to my suite at the inn for make-up and getting dressed. I was composed right up until I heard the music play for the boys to walk down the aisle. I nearly lost it but thankfully I had someone telling me to breathe and I was ok.
I have to say there wasn't really anything bad about the whole day/weekend. Some of the big things that stand out:
- a girls vs. boys gingerbread house contest at the rehearsal dinner (girls won for originality). Our pre-fab house was broken in a few pieces and we had a big snow storm come through Thursday night/Friday morning so we decided to make our gingerbread house the aftermath of the storm. We just piled icing on top of the pieces and scattered candy debris. It was pretty awesome. The boys meticulously decorated their house. I hope I can find the pictures that were taken for you guys. In hindsight I wish they had been displayed at the reception!
- the music. We painstakingly picked out every song and it was perfect. All the DJ had to do was play our CD's but we actually had a very dorky and fun DJ that just made it all the better.
- everyone was telling us how ours was the most unique ceremony they have ever witnessed.
- they also said it was the best wedding they had been to (yay!)
My dad really pissed me off when he was the first to leave the rehearsal dinner. He left about an hour and a half into it. He didn't even stay for dessert and missed the fun games we played and just overall didn't try to socialize. Thankfully my husbands family is amazing and always make up for his being an a-hole.
