Still alive

Haven't been around for awhile... Just haven't been up to writing I guess. But I'm still here. Here's a life update since the wedding for those still reading.

The wedding and honeymoon were great. We honeymooned in Disneyworld/Universal Studios. Took a day-trip over to Busch Gardens and Sea World of course. We stayed at the Polynesian for 4 nights and the Royal Pacific for 4 nights. It was a blast. Got home and bought a house.

We joined a group last spring which has been a blast! We've met a lot of really awesome people.

I stared belly dancing last spring as well. I LOVE IT! I've lost 70 pounds and have performed a couple times and I am just completely addicted.

Deg and I also started a little side business making items out of paracord. We're vending at our first big show September 10th!

post-wedding post #1

Our wedding was fantastic! I was not stressed at all on the day-of, but I am glad we did an evening ceremony. I probably would have been freaking out if I had to get ready any earlier/quicker than I did. I was surprisingly calm considering my usual personality and the fact that I agonized over every little detail leading up to the day. At about the 2-week away mark I just said screw it, if it's not done it's not getting done and if it's not ordered we won't have it so oh well.

We pretty much moseyed through the day. My husband (ooh that feels good to say) was so cute that morning. He told me he was so happy because he was afraid he wouldn't get to see me at all prior to the ceremony. We had a quite little breakfast together then ran some errands around the town. The girls and I went to the salon for our hair then came back to my suite at the inn for make-up and getting dressed. I was composed right up until I heard the music play for the boys to walk down the aisle. I nearly lost it but thankfully I had someone telling me to breathe and I was ok.

I have to say there wasn't really anything bad about the whole day/weekend. Some of the big things that stand out:
- a girls vs. boys gingerbread house contest at the rehearsal dinner (girls won for originality). Our pre-fab house was broken in a few pieces and we had a big snow storm come through Thursday night/Friday morning so we decided to make our gingerbread house the aftermath of the storm. We just piled icing on top of the pieces and scattered candy debris. It was pretty awesome. The boys meticulously decorated their house. I hope I can find the pictures that were taken for you guys. In hindsight I wish they had been displayed at the reception!
- the music. We painstakingly picked out every song and it was perfect. All the DJ had to do was play our CD's but we actually had a very dorky and fun DJ that just made it all the better.
- everyone was telling us how ours was the most unique ceremony they have ever witnessed.
- they also said it was the best wedding they had been to (yay!)

My dad really pissed me off when he was the first to leave the rehearsal dinner. He left about an hour and a half into it. He didn't even stay for dessert and missed the fun games we played and just overall didn't try to socialize. Thankfully my husbands family is amazing and always make up for his being an a-hole.

I don't have pics yet without "copyright" on them but if you want to see our gallery on our photographers website go to: http://www.shutterfly.com/progal/sign_in.jsp?gid=768a5498ce7daa994df8 The password is meg8deg.

Just too surreal

I took this class and I had to do this same assignment for Cecilia. I just can't even put it into words.

T-minus 4 days...

and I will be in Florida. I can't wait. I'm going to be in so much debt when we get back. It will be a crazy week. We're going to attempt all the major parks in just under 7 days. Deg's never been so he's super excited. We're going to Raglan Road, an Irish restaurant, for my birthday dinner and then continuing the festivities in Pleasure Island. It'll be sweet. The place we're staying is sooooo nice. My aunt has a timeshare so she gave us a week at the Sheraton Vistana. Gorgeous! My mom is paying for the plane tickets and Universal and giving us some spending money so the only things we're actually paying for is groceries/food, rental car, and Disney tickets. Sweet deal.

(no subject)

So the interview went really well. Found out that the economic development director and the planning director are both women, which is unusual for this field. It tends to be dominated by white men (just like everything else). They'll be in touch about a second round of interviews, so hopefully they'll call me in. Of course I struggled with the "why should we hire you" question. How do you answer that. I mean come on now.

job details

The interview I have is with the Town of Milton as a planning assistant. I'd be doing a lot of administrative stuff. It's entry-level and entry-level jobs are near impossible to find in planning. I couldn't believe it when this opening came by on a list-serv. I was afraid I was going to have to move to Illinois. Hopefully I'll get the job and I can stay in VT a little longer. It will make getting into grad school easier too. =)
